Contact Lenses & COVID19

Contact lenses are a great alternative to corrective glasses. It is also a perfect solution for those who wear both corrective lenses and glasses and like to switch, as they increase the life comfort and they enrich their style. At the same time, thanks to contact lenses, playing your favorite sport or indulging in your favorite hobby, becomes more enjoyable. We do not have to give up on wearing them during a pandemic, but we should remember about certain rules that must be strictly obeyed. Below, there are some tips on how to use contact lenses safely.

1. First of all, wash your hands with soap,

for at least 20 seconds, and then dry them with a fresh towel. Remember that the towel should be changed weekly.

2. Do not touch your eyes and the surrounding area with hands.

Sometimes it is difficult to resist, especially when we are tired and this is one of our habits. Unfortunately, germs like to stick to our hands and can also quickly get into our eyes. If you already have tired eyes and really need to wipe them, do it with a clean tissue, which you throw away immediately.

3. Do not use lens care lotions with expired date.

After the expired date, such liquid doesn’t longer fulfils its role, i.e. it does not disinfect the lenses we immerse in it. Warning! Never use tap water to rinse your lenses.

4. Keep the container in which you store the lenses clean.

Remember that every time you put there your lenses, rinse the container with liquid and let it dry (open). Drying the container is important because microbes do not reproduce in a dry environment. Store in their case in a low humidity and cool environment.
